1961 Cadillac at TJ's

Forty grand will get you this 1961 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible, parked and on sale today at the Trader Joe's parking lot. There's an information sheet on the side window that says the this '61 was one of only 1,450 made and was designed as a "toned down" version of the more ostentatious Cadillacs of the late 1950's. No mention of the Elvis plate -- maybe the King owned one. In 1961 this car would cost you $6,477, which equates to about a $50,000 car today.
I'm not normally big on cars. But, this is history.

I visited Elvis's pink cadillac convertible at Graceland three years ago! Six years older than this one, but a real honey nonetheless.
I think I've seen this car before--maybe even at the Trader Joe's parking lot. It's hard not to notice a car like that.
I always say I'm "car blind." I used to know who was coming my way because I recognized their car, but no more. Most cars look to the same to me now, they're unmemorable.

Looks like a pimp mobile.
Reminds me of my "back in the day" when Camaros VW bugs and Porches were cool. But not the "now" vintage meta-flake blue, white top Impala my friend's father had obtained in a trade. We would park a mile away from destinations so as not to be seen in it. Today we'd park it front and center.
That really is history. (Actually, it's kind of "my" history, since I was born the same year as this car...). Thanks for sharing. Apparently, this TJ's is all the rage in blog world - I shop there too.
The “Elvis” plate definitely got my attention! But yes, Elvis had a Pink Caddy which he eventually gave to his mother. Elvis had a life-long affair with autos and motor cars. Aside from the Cadillac, he also got a Mercedes Benz and a Ford T-Bird auto. But I think his most prized car was the Stutz Blackhawk, since he was the first one to own that vehicle.
