Urban Rancho at the Lummis House

Seen at the Urban Rancho this morning at El Alisal in Highland Park, the former home of Charles Fletcher Lummis.      It's a bit of a hike from East Pas, but a fun day with lots to do and see and learn.   If you haven't been there, it really is an extraordinary place.  It's a garden oasis in the middle of the city.

The photo is courtesy of my favorite photographer.   This five day old lamb visited El Alisal as part of the day's festivities.    He's had a tough life so far -- trouble standing after birth, rejected by mom and now hand fed.    But, we're told he's doing fine now.

I think I need to give the kid the camera more often.

Hey, Marcia's on You Tube!    The Zorthian Outdoor Learning Academy was at the Urban Rancho and filmed an interview with Marcia about her company HomeBody Botanicals.    The piece is up on You Tube along with some other great interviews from the Urban Rancho.

You hiked over there from over here??

I'm past due for revisiting the old home by the FW, aka the Lummis home.

I hate to admit I've never been there. Must go.

Oh, many times I used to sneak away at lunch hour to visit El Alisal. It has such a feel about it; lots of ghosts, mostly good ones.

I really love El Alisal, the house that began the Arroyo culture. Wish I'd known about this event. Is that a goat or a sheep in your photo? Can't tell them apart, though you do give us a clue when you say the kid had the camera. Had it or tried to eat it?

The event is informational and fun, but also a fund raiser for the gardens. I hope they make it an annual thing.

It's a sheep and, being five days old, it was fed by bottle. No cameras were ingested,
