Election Day

When we first moved to Pasadena, our polling place was at the old mortuary at Orange Grove and Mentor. I know votes count the same no matter where they are cast, but entering a mortuary to vote just kind of messed with the symbolism of the whole day. I didn't like it.

I much prefer voting at Victory Park. You can't get a more appropriate polling place.

Had a double privilege today. I did my voting early today, then later traveled out to my dad's to help him cast his votes.

There was a mortuary at Orange Grove and Mentor? I can't picture it. Was it where the car repair place is now?

That made me chuckle.

The mortuary was on the sw corner of Orange Grove and N Mentor. The building is now used for an electrical contracting store of some kind.

Funny how we say "cast" a vote, like casting horoscopes.

In Chicago, voting in a mortuary would make more sense because most of the voters were long departed.

Mural was painted by two Girl Scouts. I know because one of the scouts was my daughter. That is a great picture with our American flag.

Thanks to RV's daughter and her girl scout friend. Obviously I like the mural because I took a picture of it. Beyond that, though, the mural is a great example of uplifting public art that makes a positive difference in our community.
