Parrot Lost

Walked out early this morning to find this parrot sitting on our fence. He's a big bird with red tail feathers. This is not the kind of green parrots we see filying all over town. I think this may be someone's pet that got away.

African grey, wow! Pasadena really exploding in its variety of avian population. These are excellent talkers. You must hold out for the reward on this one as these long lived are not cheap, lol.

Cheers, David

Thanks David: A grape AND parrot expert! The parrot stayed on the fence for maybe 3-4 hours. I walked right up to him and he just stayed put. I wasn't sure how to catch or hold him (I didn't think he'd do well in the chicken pen). So I called the Humane Society and almost the same instant the Humane Society truck drove up, the parrot flew away.

Score one for the birds, may they remain free flying! Humane society will have to keep on trying. Sometimes w/ hand raised parrots all it takes is an offer of a perch & some fruits or nuts.

Hope your grape cuttings going great. Many of mine died but due to my 25 "samples" a good amount are thriving.

I was just thinking that looked like an African Grey, too. Those are SMART birds.

My grandparents had a parrot like that when I was a kid. Very smart as has been said, but also a bit of a curmudgeon. Beak like a can opener, too. Which he wasn't afraid to use when things weren't to his liking.

Thanks Jill and Curly: It was the can opener beak that caused me to be a little cautious about trying to catch this bird.

David: I have maybe half a dozen cuttings that are going strong. Now looking for a place to plant!! Maybe the parrot will eventually come back to get some grapes.
